Metric definitions & data coverage
Source: supplied NFLFast2022.csv (season field: 2026) and OtherData.csv. Default: through the latest week with at least 90% route coverage among skill-player records. Full season includes every supplied week, not a completed season. Missing usage is determined from the current files.
Team plays and efficiency: run/pass plays excluding kneels, spikes, deleted plays, and two-point attempts. Pass share counts dropbacks, including scrambles. Pass over expected is mean of dropback indicator minus xpass on plays where xpass exists. QB EPA/play is mean qb_epa per dropback, including sacks and scrambles, excluding spikes. Attempts exclude sacks. Counting stats include spikes and rushing kneels. Supplied custom pass_attempt_reg and rush_attempt_reg are not used: they include some sacks/aborted plays. OtherData box scores omit lateral credits, so a few totals differ.
PROE = mean(dropback − xpass), shown in percentage points. Rank 1 = highest PROE. Pace = summed nonnegative game_seconds_used / eligible run-pass plays with a valid duration; lower seconds/play is faster (rank 1). Rankings use all teams in the same week and home/away selection and ignore the team/player filters. This is all-situation pace, not neutral-situation pace.
xFP is summed from the supplied xFP Passer, xFP Rusher, and xFP Receiver columns on valid statistical plays. Total xFP includes all three roles; QB tables also show passing xFP separately. Actual fantasy points are OtherData DKPts, including its supplied scoring and bonuses. The source does not document the xFP model's scoring rules; differences from DK points are descriptive comparisons. Missing actual points remain unavailable.
ADoT is mean nonmissing air_yards on pass attempts (QB) or targets (receiver). Red zone means yardline ≤20; inside five means yardline <5. Explosive carries gain ≥20 yards. Opportunities = carries + targets.
Snaps and routes join on normalized team, full player name, and week. Snap share = summed player snaps / summed team snaps for that player's supplied weeks. Route metrics are available only when every selected player-week has route coverage; zero routes yield N/A. Target share uses all team targets. Missing records stay N/A. Players who change teams have separate team rows. Lateral yards and touchdowns are credited to the recipient using player IDs.
Player games played counts distinct game IDs with recorded snaps, routes, or play/box-score activity for that player. Zero-stat games with positive snaps still count. Unknown appearance coverage makes per-game averages unavailable. The season-level GP field in OtherData is not used as a week-range denominator. Team games count distinct game IDs. Efficiency means use only nonmissing observations. nflfastR field dictionary ↗
